My art practice helps me slow down and process what is happening in the world around me.
In my gestural portraiture, I am exploring the many layers of identity. I am interested in the influences effecting youth in the post internet age and choose oil painting to build layers and textural interest. In the same style, I celebrate the natural world in paintings, murals and by using textiles.
My textile work is a form of abstract expression. I am using the tactile assemblage to tell stories of a life imagined in the cast-off clothing that I use. My love of fabric and clothing always play a role in my work to shape an identity and sense of place.

Lori Leckliter is a contemporary artist originally from CA who is based in CT. With a background in fashion and a focus on trend research, her paintings reinterpret life's past experiences. Gestures and movements are expressed with traditional use of thick oil impastos and thin veils of chroma, leaving hints of her process amongst the layers. Her love of fabric and clothing always play a role in the work to shape an identity and a sense of place.
